When an agreed Completion Date is looming, your conveyancing solicitor will be working behind the scenes to ensure that all runs smoothly on the day of Completion itself. So, what can you be doing, in the meantime? 

 

- Ensure you have signed all the necessary documents, inclusive of the Contract and Transfer Deed, in anticipation of Completion taking place. The documents, although signed, will be simply held on file, to your order, pending Completion. Your conveyancing solicitor would not proceed to Exchange or Completion of the matter, without obtaining your authority to do so. 

 

- Where Contracts have been formally Exchanged, making the agreed Completion Date legally binding, we would advise that you ensure removal arrangements have been made. Whether this be by utilising the services of a removal firm, or ensuring that family members and friends will be on hand to assist you. This is to avoid any unnecessary delays on the day of Completion. 

 

- Take note of any meter readings at the property, as this can help avoid any disputes over the same, that may arise at a later date.
