Where do I leave the keys to my property?

When selling a residential property, arrangements should be made to leave the keys with the estate agents. This is in order that, upon confirming Completion has taken place, the buyer may attend the agent’s office to collect the same.

Where, however, we are dealing with a private sale, and there are no estate agents involved, we would advise making arrangements with the buyer directly, to arrange the handing over of keys upon Completion. We would stress that the keys should not be handed over until your conveyancing solicitor has specifically confirmed that Completion has been finalised.
