Why Compromise on your Dream Home?
Posted on 7th May 2019 at 09:45
At MG Legal, our solicitors in Preston understand that purchasing a property is, in most cases, one of the biggest purchases our clients will make in their lifetime.
Purchasing a new home is a very exciting time for many which, in some cases, has meant that individuals who are desperate to get into their own home, will compromise on their dream. For example, recent findings have discovered that many compromised on the location of their prospective property, in order to be happy in other aspects, and have now gone on to regret such decision.
If this is the biggest purchase of our client’s lifetime, why are they compromising on their dream home we ask? According to Which? Mortgage Annual Survey, 20% of buyers compromised on location, as this was simply making properties too expensive. Location can be a deciding factor for many of MG Legal’s clients in where they purchase, this may be on the basis of local schools for their children, any local amenities, nearby family, etc.
There are other factors which have been found to be compromised in order to facilitate other items when purchasing. Further findings of the Which? Mortgage Annual Survey found that 20% compromised on room sizes to achieve their ideal location which did, in fact, save them money. Although there was a saving, this did not matter in the long run as 23% of the home owners later found that this compromise was not suitable for their lifestyle.
Of course, if we could, we would have it all and tick each and every item off our dream list, however, this may not be possible. As stated by David Blake, principal mortgage advisor at Which?, we are to expect some level of compromise when purchasing, however, such compromises should not leave us unhappy.
Purchasing a property should be a happy time, and this is where the help of MG Legal’s conveyancers come in. At MG Legal, one thing our clients do not have to compromise on, is the conveyancing service that we provide. Our clients are always 100% happy, as can be seen via our reviews – take a look for yourself by following the link, here.
Part of our service to clients purchasing a property, is to raise the necessary enquiries on the same. We review the documentation supplied by the seller’s solicitor and revert back to them with any questions we have. This is also an opportunity for us to ask any questions that the clients have, for example any issues they require clarity on that may affect whether they proceed with the purchase. It is at this stage that MG Legal’s conveyancing team aim to iron out any issues and ensure that clients are happy with the property, before we proceed to Exchange and Complete the transaction.
