Solicitors in Lancaster will archive your file once your matter is finalised, and after this time they have to store your file for a period of six years. After the six years, Solicitors in Lancaster can confidentially destroy your file. However, it is important to note that this does not include any original documents that Solicitors in Lancaster have expressly agreed to hold on your behalf. Now, whilst this does not necessarily seem important, in order to comply with Money Laundering Regulations, every Solicitors is required to abide by anti-money laundering legislation and the proceeds of crime. So, don’t be alarmed when we ask you for photographic ID and a proof of address. Usually photographic can be in the form of a driving licence or your passport, and your proof of address can be a bank statement or a utility bill. If you don’t have any of the above, don’t panic.
