Leading medical negligence solicitors in Lancaster discuss the worrying update regarding our local hospital in Lancaster.
In recent weeks, the NHS has revealed that The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has been placed into special measures for the second time.

The Foundation Trust, which is in charge of hospitals in Lancaster, Kendal, and Barrow, was previously under special measures after the unnecessary death of 11 babies and one mother.

It has also been confirmed that the hospital’s urology department is now under review, presumably due to worries over the quality of care being offered.

Many of us will not know exactly what it means for the Lancaster hospital to be placed under special measures, and our medical negligence solicitors in Lancaster know that many of our clients and friends in the local area may be worried about the news. We can confirm that NHS England states that health trusts are only placed on the special measures recovery programme when there are 'very serious and complex issues that require intensive support’.

This suggests a serious issue in the Lancaster hospital, and comes alongside the Care Quality Commission (CQC) revealing that their recent report into the the working of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay was a “disappointing reading”.

Our medical negligence solicitors in Lancaster are well aware of the great work that the CQC do when it comes to investigating reports of sup-par medical care, and medical negligence within hospitals and care homes in England and Wales. For a full overview of the duty of care that you are entitled to in hospital, see this here.

Medical negligence claims against the NHS:

Our medical negligence solicitors in Lancaster are disheartened to hear of the sup-par care that people in our local area could have been subject to, and would encourage anybody who has suffered from any injuries or illness due to hospital negligence at Lancaster hospital, or any other hospital in the surrounding area, to consider pursing a hospital negligence claim for financial compensation.

Hospitals have a standard of care to their patients, and when this standard of care slips they are essentially risking the health of their patients unnecessarily.

Hospital negligence can come in many forms, including:

Pressure sores

If you believe that you have suffered from any of these examples of negligent treatment, then you could be eligible to make a hospital negligence claim with our hospital negligence solicitors.
