Compensation.
MG Legal’s personal injury solicitors are presently dealing with a number of cases where it is thought that clients have contracted Hepatitis A, from Medjool Dates. Sainsbury’s has issued an urgent recall of certain packs of their Taste the Difference Medjool Dates, stating that there is a possibility they could have been contaminated with Hepatitis A.

Hepatitis A is a viral infection which affects a person’s liver, causing symptoms such as tiredness and a general feeling of unwell, joint and muscle pain, a raised temperature, loss of appetite and sickness, amongst other symptoms. You can read more about the symptoms and treatment of Hepatitis A on the NHS website, here

The affected products are both 200g and 500g packs of Taste the Difference Medjool dates with the supplier/site code K0014 EW. According to Sainsburys, packs with other codes are not affected and do not need to be returned. The dates have been available online and in Sainsbury’s stores since Christmas Eve, as well as being sold through Simply Fresh and Dobbies.

Sainsbury’s say that they have suspended all supply from the specific supplier under investigation, and have confirmed that all affected products should be returned to store for a full refund.

However, sometimes a full refund is just not enough. Our local expert Personal Injury Solicitors understand how devastating the effects of a mistake such as the one above can be. Many people do not realise that the places where we buy our food, such as Sainsbury’s and other supermarkets or local shops, have a duty of care to us – the consumer – to ensure that the food we are buying is safe for consumption.

Therefore, even though it may seem like a simple mistake, and some people may manage to return their purchase for a full refund with no further drama.

That being said, some people will have consumed the potentially-dangerous food and could now find that they suffer from the above symptoms of Hepatitis A, and require medical treatment for the viral infection.

That’s where our team of expert local Personal Injury Solicitors are here to help.

If you have been the victim of the supplier’s mistake, contact our expert team online, here, to discuss making a claim and receiving the compensation you deserve for the duty of care that was owed to you, but not showed.
